Sleep Better With A Memory Foam Mattress Pad

Memory Foam Mattress Pad

Memory foam, also known as visco elastic foam, has become quite popular over the last several years. It is designed to mold itself to the contours of your body and help you sleep better at night. While you can buy mattresses that are completely made from visco foam, you can also get the benefits while keeping your existing mattress by using a memory foam mattress pad.

These pads are laid on top of a standard mattress to give you all the benefits of memory foam, at a considerably lower cost than a whole new mattress. They are generally about 4 inches thick, so you do need to consider the additional thickness when adding it to your current mattress.

Memory foam is designed to mold itself around anything that puts pressure on it, which you can see in action by pressing your hand into the foam. When you pull your hand away, the imprint will take a while to disappear.

What this means for your body while you sleep is that the foam will support the proper curvature of your spine and the rest of your body by adjusting itself accordingly. This is in contrast to a standard mattress, which only has a limited amount of play and often forces your body to realign itself to the mattress instead.

Memory foam mattress pads are available in various sizes, from single right up to queen and king. Obviously, the larger they are the more expensive they are going to be, and you will likely spend $300-400 for a king size pad. While this sounds expensive, it's still only a fraction of what a visco foam mattress would cost.

There are other things available that use this foam - not just mattresses and mattress toppers. You can get pillows that use memory foam, which have the same advantages of molding to the natural contour of your neck and head. Seat cushions are also available in many cases, or they can be custom ordered if you want to fit a particular piece of furniture.

Even your pets can get in on the comfort, with dog and cat beds available with memory foam cushions!

Brands like Coolsleep, Sarah Peyton, Sensus and Spa Sensations all make these pads, but they are really all pretty similar as the foam itself is the same in each. The big differences, if any, are price and possibly the quality of the cover that is included with the pad.
