The Various Types Of Bedroom Furniture

Types Of Bedroom Furniture
When you think of bedroom furniture, what comes to mind? Beds, most likely, and probably dressers and nightstands. But there are many other types of furniture that can be used in the bedroom, as well as doing double duty in other rooms. Let's look at some of the things you might want to consider adding to your home.

If you live in a smaller apartment, dorm room, townhouse or any other quarters with limited space you may want to consider a bed that lets you use the space for other things than just sleeping. There are several types of beds that can do this for you.

A Murphy bed folds up into the wall or into a wall-mounted cabinet, freeing up floor space for other uses during the day. A day bed give you a similar dual use of the space by doubling as a couch or love seat during the day.

And of course a sofa bed does the same - it can be part of your living room during the day and convert the same room into a bedroom at night. Or you could use a roll away bed for those times that you have guests and need to set up a sleeping space for them.

Beyond beds, bedroom furniture can also include things like wardrobes, closet organizers, shelving units and other storage features. Some of these will be built-in units while others can be freestanding.

While not precisely furniture, mattresses and box springs are certainly part of the furnishings you need for a functional bedroom. And mattress pads or toppers should also be considered to get the most comfortable sleep at night.

Many furniture stores carry pretty well all the standard pieces of furniture you would need in the average bedroom, but you can look beyond that as well. Home centers such as Home Depot or Lowes have many things, such as closet organizers, wardrobes and other cabinets, which even if not specifically designed for the bedroom, often make excellent additions.
